Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the TutorShark website and tutoring matching service, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our service. These terms apply to all visitors, students, parents, and families who engage with TutorShark.

Service Description

TutorShark is a tutoring matching platform that connects students in Ontario, Canada with qualified private tutors. We facilitate introductions between families and tutors across a range of subjects and grade levels (Kindergarten through Grade 12, as well as adult learners). TutorShark is a matching and coordination service — we are not a school, an educational institution, or an employer of tutors in the traditional sense.

Tutoring sessions are arranged and managed directly between families and their matched tutors, with support from the TutorShark team throughout the process.

User Responsibilities

By using our service, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, truthful, and complete information when submitting a tutor request
  • Use our service only for lawful and legitimate educational purposes
  • Treat tutors with respect and professionalism in all communications and sessions
  • Not misrepresent your identity, your child's grade level, or the subject needs
  • Not use our platform to solicit services outside of the agreed tutoring arrangement
  • Notify TutorShark promptly if you have concerns about a matched tutor or session

Tutor Vetting Process

TutorShark takes the quality of its tutors seriously. We accept approximately 1 in 8 applicants and conduct a review process that includes an assessment of academic background, subject expertise, and communication skills. However, TutorShark does not guarantee any specific academic outcome for any student. Results depend on many factors including a student’s effort, engagement, and individual circumstances.

While we make every effort to match families with suitable, qualified tutors, TutorShark makes no warranties that any particular tutor is credentialed, certified, or licensed by any professional or government body unless explicitly stated.

Payment and Cancellation

Tutoring sessions are booked and managed directly between families and their matched tutors. Payment terms, rates, and cancellation policies are established at the time of your consultation with the TutorShark team and confirmed before your first session begins.

We ask that families provide reasonable notice (typically 24 hours) when cancelling or rescheduling a session. Repeated last-minute cancellations may affect your standing with your tutor and with TutorShark. Any disputes regarding payment should be directed to the TutorShark team promptly.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, TutorShark and its team members shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our service, including but not limited to: academic outcomes, scheduling disputes, technical issues with online session tools, or actions taken by matched tutors.

TutorShark’s total liability in any matter arising from or related to these terms shall not exceed the amount paid to TutorShark by you in the three months preceding the claim.

We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. When we do, the updated date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of our service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
