Ontario Provincial Assessments
Expert EQAO & OSSLT Test Prep
Full-length practice, timed sections, and explicit teaching of the question styles Ontario uses — Primary, Junior, Grade 9 math, and the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.
Why Choose TutorShark for EQAO & OSSLT
EQAO assessments measure student achievement against Ontario curriculum expectations published by the Ministry of Education — not mystery content. Our tutors study the structure of each operational assessment: multiple-select versus single-select, open-response rubrics, cross-curricular reading selections, and allowed tools for Grade 9 mathematics. Students drill full booklet-style practice, review exemplar-level responses, and learn how markers award partial credit so effort translates into points.
Format & Rubric Fluency
Tutors explain section timing, permitted materials, and how constructed-response items are scored — reducing anxiety through transparency.
Authentic Practice Sets
Sessions cycle through representative passages, applied tasks, and multi-step math problems drawn from Ontario-style stems — not random internet worksheets.
Assessment-Literate Tutors
We recruit tutors who have prepared dozens of York Region and GTA students for the exact assessment your child faces next semester.
Ontario Ministry Standards & Assessment Targets
EQAO designs tasks from publicly outlined curriculum expectations — literacy integrates reading, writing, and sometimes mathematics contexts; Grade 9 EQAO mathematics aligns with the destreamed MTH1W expectations and processes (including mathematical modelling where tasks require it). OSSLT measures reading and writing competencies required for the literacy graduation requirement. TutorShark maps diagnostic practice to those strands so every minute targets gaps that actually influence scores.
- Primary & Junior: narrative and informational reading selections, open-response writing, and mathematics multi-part problems reflecting EQAO item families.
- Grade 9 EQAO Math: number sense, algebra, proportional reasoning, geometry, data, and thinking-task questions with calculator-aware strategy.
- OSSLT: news report, series of paragraphs expressing an opinion, selection responses, and informational graphic literacy.
- Test-taking coaching: annotation, elimination for selected-response, pacing maps, and error checking tuned to each booklet layout.
